What kind of documents need to be submitted

These documents depend on the type of visa you are applying for and must be submitted in addition to the standard proofs:

Birth certificate with apostille[1] and notarized translation

(original document and one non-certified copy)

Marriage certificate with apostille[1] and notarized translation

Passport copy of the parent living in Germany

Current extended registration certificate (erweiterte Meldebescheinigung) of the parent living in Germany

(original document and one non-certified copy)

The registration certificate may not be older than 6 months and must contain details of the civil status..
Copy of the German residence permit (not certified)

Securing a livelihood in Germany must be proven by means of suitable documents from the reference person: e.g. confirmation of employment, employment certificate, pay slips, proof of self-employment, proof of assets/income in the case of family reunification with non-working persons.

Bei Nachzug im zeitlichen Zusammenhang, innerhalb von 6 Monaten nach Visumerteilung an die Referenzperson, oder bei Nachzug zu deutschen Staatsangehörigen ist kein Nachweis zur Sicherung des Lebensunterhalts zu erbringen.

Nachweis über ausreichenden Wohnraum: Miet- oder Kaufverträge (mit Fläche und Kosten)

Bei Nachzug im zeitlichen Zusammenhang, innerhalb von 6 Monaten nach Visumerteilung an die Referenzperson, ist kein Nachweis zum ausreichenden Wohnraum zu erbringen.

  • Processing time: Between two and five months, in individual cases shorter or longer.
