Willkommen auf den Seiten des Auswärtigen Amts
Information from the Central Register of Foreigners (Ausländerzentralregister - AZR) or from the Schengen Information System (SIS)
What personal data is stored about me in the AZR or SIS? Do I have an entry ban for Germany? Unfortunately, the embassy itself cannot answer these questions. If you want to apply for a time limitation of an entry ban, you would also have to contact the respective authority that imposed it.
Self-disclosure in the Central Register of Foreigners (Ausländerzentralregister)
An application for self-disclosure from the Central Register of Foreigners must be submitted in writing in German to the Federal Office of Administration (Bundesverwaltungsamt - BVA) in Cologne. In order to prevent that information on personal data is being provided to unauthorized persons, the request for information can only be answered once the identity of the applicant has been verified. The respective German diplomatic mission abroad or an authority in the country of origin that is authorized to certify the signature may, among others, provide the required proof of identity. An official translation of the signature certification must be attached if it is not in German.
For signature notarization at the Embassy in Riga, please make an appointment via the Embassy's online appointment system in the category „Consular services - signature notarization etc“. When coming to your appointment, please present:
- the completed, unsigned application form from the BVA
- a valid passport or identity
The fee for the signature certification is €56.43 and is payable by credit card (VISA/MasterCard) or in cash when submitting the application.
Please then send the application to:

Self-disclosure in the Schengen Information System
An application for self-disclosure from the Schengen Information System must be submitted in writing to the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt - BKA) in Wiesbaden. As the BKA may only provide the requested information to the actually authorized person, they must verify the identity of the applicant to ensure that only the person concerned receives the information. To learn more about the required documents and representation by a lawyer, please visit the BKA website.
